Thomas Garvey’s relationship with The Science of Acting began in 1987 when he was taught by Sam Kogan at the London drama school that Thomas was then attending. The integrity, inspiration and dedication Sam demonstrated towards his work never left him, and upon hearing Sam had opened his own school (the then School of The Science of Acting) Thomas put his career on hold to study with him for 4 years. This was a period where The Science of Acting was rapidly evolving, with the subjects developing class by class. During Thomas’ 30-year Theatre career he has been an actor, director, producer and teacher. He has been teaching The Science of Acting for over 15 years which includes being a Senior Acting Tutor at The Kogan Academy of Dramatic Art and its Head of Directing for 5 years.

Thomas now runs his own Personal Development Company.

Dr Helen Kogan has had a lifelong interest in exploring the nature of conscious-ness. Initially pursuing the path of scientific investigation, Helen followed her first degree in Neuroscience with a Doctorate in Neuropharmacology. After her father’s death in 2004, Helen temporarily took the role of Principal at The Kogan Academy of Dramatic Arts and remained Chair of the board for a subsequent decade, during which time she compiled and edited The Science of Acting (Routeledge, 2009). Ever-since Helen has been travelling the world. Having (at the time of writing) visited close to 90 countries, she explores how different traditions, cultures and schools answer the perennial questions of life and humanity’s role within it. Simultaneously, this has provided her with the experiential opportunity to probe far-reaching facets and potentials of human experience. This autoethnographic approach has, and continues to take Helen’s research pursuits to new levels. She has a particular interest in the role and potential of medicinal plants in the evolution of consciousness. Her experiences and findings are being compiled in a series of books yet to be titled.

Helen offers one-to-one consultations incorporating energetic techniques of transformation. She also facilitates international tours, guiding and supporting individuals and groups during their journeys of self-exploration and evolution. For more information see www.drhelenkogan.com
